The heat losses also occur outside the dryers (in conveyance, feed and product handling systems, air pollution control, afterburners, etc.) and, as a result, the overall drying system's energy demand is considerably higher than that of the dryer proper, usually by 10% to 20% depending on the drying system design and energy recovery provisions.
