ABSTRACT
Few people realize how costly environmental cleanup is and how costly it may be to prevent environmental problems in the future. The U.S. cost of complying with environmental regulations from 1972-1992 was about $1.4 trillion. The cost will be about $1.6 trillion in the remainder of the 1990s.
