ABSTRACT

The thinner the deposit, the shorter the time for hydrogen to diffuse out through the coating. A method based on this concept was proposed that consisted of plating a thin layer of cadmium, approximately 0.0001 in., followed by a short bake to outgas the hydrogen, and finally followed by plating to the required total thickness of cadmium. But more sensitive embrittlement tests showed that this method also caused embrittlement.
