Experimental Methods for Post-yield Fracture Toughness Determinations

This chapter will review the test methods that have been developed for measuring ductile fracture toughness properties. These methods have been based primarily on the' and COD parameters. Many different standards are being developed around the world. The authors will restrict their discussion to those standards with which they are most familiar; the ASTM E813-81 method for 'Ie testing, the British Standards BS 5672 for COD testing and proposed ASTM methods for' R-curve and COD testing.
