ABSTRACT
Wavelet transforms have proven to be useful tools for signal processing [1]–[7]. Applications of wavelet transforms include signal compression, statistical analysis, adaptive filtering, and solving linear equations, just to name a few. In fact, the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has adopted wavelets as the technology of choice for compressing fingerprint images in order to keep the size of its database manageable [8].
