Another parametric method used for describing time-varying LPC coefficients in LP modeling, which found useful applications in speech recognition [She 94a, Juang 86], is to use a Markov chain to control the time evolution of the LPC coefficients. This is analogous to using the sinusoids for the same purpose, but with a probabilistic structure rather than just a deterministic function.
