ABSTRACT
Health care providers are frequently asked to determine whether individuals have any respiratory impairment and/or disability. To evaluate respiratory impairment and disabil ity, the physician must assess both the patient’s clinical condition and the job requirements. Two important questions should be addressed: Are there objective impairments in lung function? Will these impairments in lung function limit the patient’s ability to work?
