ABSTRACT

This article concerns the direct application of combustion heat to an industrial fluid process. The apparatus providing this function is called a fired process heater, sometimes simply called a fired healer. Almost without exception, the term is used to denote what is more specifically a tube still heater or pipe coil heater. The fired heater is also sometimes called a furnace. However, this term is so general that it could also apply to an incinerator, a boiler, or a kiln.
