ABSTRACT

I. INTRODUCTION Dialysis is the transport of a solute through a membrane under the influence of a difference in the solute activities of the solutions separated by the membrane [1]. In dialysis, solute separation is induced by the difference in solute diffu sion transport within a membrane matrix. A diffusable small solute such as an electrolyte or acid is passed through a membrane and dialyzed from a solution containing nondiffusable large molecules.
