ABSTRACT

Currently much on the structure and function of the stellate cells have been accumulated (9-11). In research on the role of stellate cells in vitamin A metabolism and the of collagen and olher extracellular matrices is increasing rapidly along the interconnected lines of biochemistry and cellular/molecular biology. In this chapter, I hope to convey a detailed understanding of the structural properties of the stellate cells and how these properties are related to the transport and storage of vitamin A in the liver. I will then the family of stellate cells, which distribute widely in vertebrates.
