ABSTRACT

Roots fibrous. Stem branched, ascending or erect, glabrous, 15-40 cm tall. Leaves ovate-lanceolate, 2-8 cm long, 0.6-2 cm broad, acuminate, lon­ gitudinally folded, with broad, membranous sheaths at base and sparse hairs beneath. Inflorescence on slender stalks in axils of upper leaves. Flowers somewhat irregular, sepals greenish, membranous, ovate; 2 sepals connate at base. Corolla with 3 dissimilar petals, of which 2 large, dark blue, orbicular-obovate, with short unguis at base; third much smaller, ovate-lanceolate, pale. Stamens 3; staminodes 3; pistil with trilocular ovary; style recurved at tip.
