ABSTRACT
A special case of prophylactic treatment is to hamper wound infection by pathogens (Blakeman and Fokkema, 1982; Falconi and Mendgen, 1994; Leibinger et al., 1997; Benbow and Sugar, 1999). This approach has mainly been investigated to control postharvest diseases of fruits and vegetables, and is discussed in Chapter 6 in this volume.
