ABSTRACT

NFT is a specialized technique developed for the commercial production of horticultural crops, such as tomato, brinjal, lettuce, marigold, and cucumber. It entails continuous recycling of a large volume of nutrient liquid in a film that flows over the roots of plant. In this system, although any host used in the NFT should be first grown in the sterilized substrate with AM inoculation to get the initial infection, this technology is one of the probable solutions which can considerably reduce the problem of contamination. Also, the biomass of roots produced in NFT is quite high and, therefore, it appears as an alternative to pot culture production technology for AM fungi.
