ABSTRACT

Virus diseases of cyprinids are amongst the most well-known disease conditions affecting cyprinids as they impact cultured food fish species, warm-water and cold-water ornamental species, and sports fish. The socalled 'carp pox' disease, which causes raised areas (epidermal hyperplasia) on the skin of affected fish, is familiar to many anglers and hobbyists, although they do not necessarily realize that it is a virus disease.
