ABSTRACT

The nectaries of Passiflora genus where both types of the nectaries are present-extrafloral and floral are of special interest (Fig. 2.28). Fluorescence spectra of the nectar and nectaries differ in the maxima position. Floral nectar fluoresces in the longer wavelength region, mainly in yellow whereas extrafloral nectar - in blue. This is evidence of the different chemical composition of the nectar and nectaries. Among fluorescent components of extrafloral nectar phenols-blue-emitted probably prevail.
