ABSTRACT

Fig. 2.34 The fluorescence spectra of secretory cells of different organs. Unbroken thin and thick lines - secretory cells, broken line - non-secretory cell or anther cell, unlike pollen.

cells of the leaf and pollen of Ruta graveolens a similarity is seen. Unlike secretory cells of sedum leaves, root secretory cells have two smooth maxima at 480 and 550 nm, perhaps, due to the different fluorescent compounds. Secretory cells of the leaf may have maximum (at 465 nm) in blue and maximum or shoulder (at 550 nm) in the yellow region of the

spectrum as seen for the first cell whereas the second cell demonstrates only one peak 550 nm in yellow. In Thuja secretory cells of seeds, there is only one emission maximum 450-460 nm, unlike the leaf, where second maximum is seen in green-yellow (520-535 nm) belonging to another component O n the contrary, secretory components of both pollen (as well as anther) and leaf that fluoresce with peaks 550-575 nm of Ruta graveolens may be similar.
