ABSTRACT

The entry explains a roadmap for developing a compliance and security program. The program must address the nuances and needs of its import and export supply chain. Elements include the following:Analyzing risks.Obtaining top management involvement and addressing functional silos.Forming a committee structure.Creating procedures.Developing infrastructure and communications.Providing disaster and contingency planning. The author poses the scenario of the logistics manager who wakes up one morning to find out that a terrorist act has just occurred at a main supplier's country and their supply chain has been terminated. What will he/she do now? Is there even anything he/she can do at this point in time? Is it too late? Good questions, but the time to ask these questions is not after, but before, the eventuality.
