ABSTRACT

The entry points out the role of the efficient and effective manager. To be effective, the manager must devise and follow a strategy that defines the “right” things to do. This is the “plan.” This is followed by developing the organization needed to execute the plan efficiently. Fundamental to managing is the “control system” to monitor execution. The control system should generate manager interventions to improve the plan and processes. The authors recommend that cash‐generating product sales be the ultimate measure of success, a concept from Goldratt's Theory of Constraints.
