ABSTRACT

If certification is achieved by a system, it indicates that the system should fit its intended purpose and that it meets specific requirements of reliability, safety, and performance. In U.K. military terms there are certain types of design activities that must be performed to the satisfaction of the certification authority. An example of a software standard that defines such activities is the U.K. DEF STAN 00-55. Currently there are no similar standards for human factors (HF) design-related activities.
