ABSTRACT
Orthogonal systems other than the trigonometric, orthogonal polynomials, and wavelets also play an important role in applications. Chief among these are the systems arising from boundary value problems, which are primarily used to solve partial differential equations. We present here only the barest essentials of these systems. A more complete (much more) description may be found in [T] or [C-L].
