ABSTRACT
Large industrial disasters that happened recently, like the LPG escape in Mexico and the methyl isocyanate escape in Bhopal (both at the end of 1984), again show the need for good preparation for such situations. It is the responsibility of the industry as well as the authorities to reduce risks to a minimum, but that does not mean that industrial disasters will cease to take place.
