ABSTRACT
A recent study by the American Petroleum Institute has provided an extensive characterization of drilling wastes collected in the field. A number of these wastes were subjected to column leachability tests to determine the hydraulic conductivity to be expected in a waste disposal pit. Hydraulic conductivities were found to decrease rapidly to values of 10-8-10' cm/s as a result of settling in the columns, confirming results from previous studies.
