ABSTRACT
A s l id in g i s o la t io n system i s recognized as one of r e l i a b l e base i so la t io n techno log ies . Such a s l id in g system, however, has some l im i ta t io n in i t s i s o la t io n c a p a b i l i ty ; i t s e f f ic ie n cy i s somewhat r e s t r i c t e d ag a in s t small to medium earthquakes, and i t s s l id in g displacement during severe earthquakes can be unacceptably la rg e .
