ABSTRACT

PARSIFAL software has been developed by EDF-DTG over the past ten years to perfonn calculation of the optimal management of hydroelectric resources inclunding seasonal reservoirs and thermal units. Those calculations can be made on a short term basis in order to determine the best operation plan basis of the differents units. It can also be used on a long term basis in order to determine the optimal commissionnaringdates of the new plant or the extra cost of a new environmental constraint. It takes into account the different random factors e.g inflows, units availbility etc ... and it is possible to modelise very complex hydraulic networks such as pumped storage or "Y" valleys. It includes efficient mathematical tools but is nevertheless designed for an interactive and confortable use and has been applied many times in France and in other countries like GABON, URUGUAY, NEPAL, UGANDA ... ect ...
