ABSTRACT

In order to study the energy dissipator structures needed inside the ship locks hydraulic model tests were arranged on the scale 1 to 20. The model consisted of both the whole 115m long ship lock, the design vessel inside the lock and the appropriate parts of the upstream and downstream channels. Both the filling and emptying of the locks were simulated using computer based measuring and analyzing unit which together with installed AD/DA-converter enabled the simultaneous treatment of measurements and control of the gates.
