ABSTRACT
A phenomenon called thermal stratification takes place in a reservoir. The water is classified under horizontal strata of a different temperature; the strata near the surface follow environmental temperature variations to a greater extent and more quickly than the deeper ones. The thermal stratification is modified during the year, so the water temperature of a reservoir decreases in summer with the depth.
