ABSTRACT
This final chapter discusses environmental management from the perspective of (public) environmental policy1 in three dimensions:
1. Analysing the significance and (specific) influence of environmental policy for environmental management activities and evolution;
2. Deriving recommendations on what environmental policy, particularly on EU level, should do to enlarge and improve environmental management;
3. Assessing the actual capacity of environmental policy to follow these recommendations in view of its internal and external restrictions and of its actual mode of proceeding, taking up corresponding considerations in Chapter 2.
