ABSTRACT

Weyerhaeuser Lateral Support Test Another blade support test method was reported by Stockman [71] of Weyerhaeuser. The Weyerhaeuser tester, shown in Fig. 27, is loaded in a universal testing machine or other device capable of providing a load-deformation curve by recording the movement of the clamps. To prevent development of severe stress concentrations at the clamps, the test specimens have a continuous necking with a radius of 200 mm. The total test length between the clamps is 90 mm, and the minimum width of the specimen is 20 mm. Between each pair of supporting blades, the end conditions of the specimen correspond to the Euler column with hinged ends.
