Anticomplementreagentsforroutineusehaveusuallybeenoligospecific;e.g.,anti-C3(C3b +C3d).Whenmonospecificreagentsareused,anti-C3disthemostcommonlyused monospecificanticomplementinthebloodbank.OneshouldnotethatagglutinationofRBCs testedwithanticomplementseraisenhancedbyincubatingthetubefor5-10minatroom temperatureandthencentrifuging;thisincubationisparticularlyimportantforoptimum reactivitywhenusingmonoclonalanti-C3d.
