ABSTRACT
Whilethevenipuncturistholdstheneedlehubandthebloodtransfusiontubingconnector veryfirmlyandtheultrasonographerwatchesthebloodflowturbulenceinthefetalbloodvessel, thetransfusionist(thethirdmemberoftheteam)transfusescompatiblepackedRBCsin10-ml aliquotsover1-2minuntilthedesiredtransfusionvolumeisattained(mean50mllkgestimated nonhydropicfetalweight).Ifthereisevidenceofsignificantbradycardiaormarkedventricular dilation(arareevent),thetransfusionisdiscontinuedbeforethefullvolumeisadministered.
