ABSTRACT

The B/C/N materials obtained by reactions (1) and (2) showed a slightly larger c-axis lattice constant (0.6845 nm) than that of h-BN (0.6661 nm) or graphite (0.6708 nm). The B/C/N powder was reported to burn (i.e., oxidized) at 800°C. This result indicates that the B/C/N did not contain free carbon or boron carbide, since the combustion of carbon or boron carbide begins at temperature of 500°C or 600°C, respectively.
