ABSTRACT
A shell has two main features: it has a thin wall and the wall is curved in at least one direction. Steel shells are important load carrying components of many diverse structures: storage tanks, vessels, towers, silos, submarines, off-shore structures, rockets, water-towers, smoke-stacks, spacecraft, etc.
