Sustainability was the term rst coined in the eld of ecology where it was used to dene how biological systems had the strength to withstand and remain varied and productive. To quote a few examples are forests, seas, and wetlands. However, it now covers four domains, namely, ecology, economics, politics, and culture, and sustainability is the long-lasting endurance of social welfare, durability, and exible living. According to another school of thought, the three main pillars of sustainability are social equity, environmental resilience, and economics. Despite the various meanings, ecology remains to be the basic block of sustainability as safe ecosystems and environment are required for the well-being and existence of all living materials.
