ABSTRACT

The family Pentatomidae encompasses a monophyletic group of true bugs (Grazia et al. 2008), representing the fourth largest family within Heteroptera and one of the most diverse groups of hemimetabolous insects (Fig. 1.1). The pentatomids are known as stink bugs and green bugs, and contain about 900 genera and more than 4,700 species in the world. Nine subfamilies are recognized (Grazia et al. 2008, Rider 1998-2015), half of them with restricted distribution (Table 1.1).
