ABSTRACT

Many factors contribute to the success of a professional football organization. Quality coaching, excellent game planning for opponents, and good fortune with regard to the health of players are all important components of a winning team. Arguably paramount among these factors is the effective evaluation of on-field talent; a team that can find “diamonds in the rough” and avoid highly touted “busts” will position themselves well for success. This has perhaps never been more true than in today’s salary cap era, where the league seeks to achieve competitive balance among franchises.
