ABSTRACT
Callus is an unorganised mass of cells in various stages of lignifications. Callus initiates from the young cells at the cut-ends in the region of the vascular cambium, although cells of the cortex and the pith may also contribute to its formation ( Hartmann and Kester, 1989 ).
