However, sheep are not only mutton producers, but also producers of excellent wool and high-quality milk, with some being able to fulfil the roles of both wool and mutton producers (dual-purpose breeds) (Schoeman, 2000). It is, therefore, essential that the contribution of sheep in the animal protein chain should not be ignored or underestimated.
