ABSTRACT

There are numerous biotic challenges to soybean production that contribute to localized and regional yield losses annually. Geographic region, soil type, climate conditions and soybean genetics, alone or in combination, can have a profound influence on which soybean pathogen may have the greatest impact on any given farm in any given year. With both fewer soybean genetic suppliers and seed companies than two decades ago, a cultivar has a greater potential to be grown across a wider range of environmental conditions, and thus has a higher probability of encountering a broader diversity of pathogens.
