Moreover, although GnRH-agonists solved the problem of premature LH surge, their use resulted in new problems, such as the presence of estrogen deprivation symptoms during the downregulation period, the occurrence of cyst formation at initiation of stimulation and of ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) after the administration of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG).
