ABSTRACT

Historically, monitoring of ovarian response, by means of measuring ovarian hormones, came into the use for ovulation induction due to the complications of gonadotropin therapy. In ovulation induction cycles with gonadotropins, Klopper and coworkers showed that success complication rates were not dependant on monitoring as such, but on the treatment protocol used (1). If more gonadotropins are given, successes increase, as do complications such as ovarian hyperstimulation syndrome (OHSS) and multiple births.
