ABSTRACT

In addition to its negative impact on health, obesity imposes large economic costs on many entities, including health-care systems, employers, governments, obese individuals and their families, and society as a whole. In this chapter, we briey describe the methods used to quantify the economic costs of obesity and then summarize the major ndings up to the present and their policy implications.
