ABSTRACT
Where a person is released on police bail (under s 38 of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984) having been charged with an offence, the custody officer has power under s 3A of the Bail Act 1976 to impose any condition on the grant of bail which a court could impose (with certain exceptions such as a requirement of residence in a bail hostel).
