ABSTRACT

Training to become a solicitor involves completion of the academic stage, by way of law degree or non-law degree and Common Professional Examination or Diploma in Law, completion of the professional stage by way of a full time Legal Practice Course at a recognised institution, and the apprenticeship stage, formerly referred to as articles of clerkship but which is now referred to as the trainee solicitor stage, where practical experience is gained under the supervision of an experienced solicitor for two years.
