ABSTRACT
The United Nations Convention is the culmination of a 60 year campaign to achieve recognition of the child as an independent rights holder. The significance of the Children’s Convention lies not just in the achievement of this goal, but also in its holistic and all encompassing approach to the rights of the child, evidenced by the inclusion of an unparalleled range of rights in a single binding treaty.
