The second focus of this section is upon the effect of specific performance and equivalent injunctions in employment law. Courts are extremely reluctant to force a person to carry out a contract of employment, since to do so would be uncomfortably close to slavery,55but in a number of decisions in the field of entertainment the remedies granted have had an equivalent effect. Whilst courts will not use specific performance to compel performance of employment obligations by an employee, they will severely restrict contract workers' freedom to breach their contracts by means of positive and negative injunctions. The leading cases appear to conflict as to the desirability and effect of such injunctions, and the language of three in particular may be contrasted to demonstrate a further tentative stereotype, women who act like men.
