ABSTRACT

The Building Regulations 199125 (as amended) ensure the health and safety of people in and around buildings by providing functional requirements for building, design and construction. Environmental issues relevant to the construction industry are promoted through the Regulations for, for example, improving energy efficiency. Failure to comply with the Building Regulations when constructing a new building, or materially altering an existing one, is an offence and the local authority may remove or alter the offending work.
