The CPR came into force on 26 April 1999.1 The CPR apply in full to all proceedings issued after that date. The rules in existence before the CPR came into force were the Rules of the Supreme Court 1965 (RSC), which applied to proceedings in the Supreme Court, and the County Court Rules 1981 (CCR), which applied to proceedings in the county courts. The CPR are a single code applying to proceedings both in the Supreme Court and the county courts. Although the RSC and CCR were abolished on the coming into force of the CPR, some of the RSC and CCR were brought back into force and added as schedules to the CPR; Sched 1 containing the remaining RSC and Sched 2 containing the remaining CCR.
