ABSTRACT

It was recognised that with the introduction of case management, judicial and court staff would have a greater burden imposed upon them in carrying out their new functions and that parties may be asked to contribute to the additional costs resulting from the reforms. Since the introduction of the CPR, it is no coincidence that there has also been a dramatic rise in the level of court fees in bringing a civil action as well as the introduction of new fees at various stages in the proceedings, most noticeably at allocation and listing.
