ABSTRACT

These rules restrict the issuing of proceedings in the High Court, but they are not rules of jurisdiction; so although, in some cases, an action cannot be started in the High Court, this does not necessarily mean that it will not be heard in the High Court. Also, these rules do not limit the jurisdiction of the county courts, so there is no restriction on an action that is valued over £15,000 being started in a county court. Further, the court has wide powers to transfer proceedings between the High Court and county courts.11
