RESPONDING TO A PART 8 CLAIM FORM
In the High Court, if a defendant is served7 with a Part 8 claim form, he must file and serve an acknowledgment of service on every other party, not more than 14 days after service of the Part 8 claim form on him (r 8.3(1)). The acknowledgment of service should be in Form N210, but an informal document, such as a letter, will also be acceptable (PD 8, para 3.2). An acknowledgment of service is not required in the county court and the following provisions relating to it do not apply. It should be noted that the defendant does not file or serve a defence to the Part 8 claim (r 8.9(a)).
